how-to-choose-the-best-keyboardWhen you go buy a computer, you identify its memory, hard drive, screen and other accessories. Nine times out of ten, we don’t stop and think about the keyboard, well at least not until its too late. Here, you learn about the different keyboards that are available and what they have to offer. A lot of people don’t realize that a keyboard can improve your typing, minimize arthritis and carpal tunnel as well as offer precision.

Wired Vs Wireless

Obviously the first thing you want to consider when looking for a new keyboard is upgrading to a wireless keyboard. Chances are they (corded keyboards) are not even on the market anymore. But when you are looking for a second hand keyboard, you may come across one. Now, one thing that you need to remember with a wireless keyboard is that they do require regular recharging. Often times they will have Bluetooth capabilities, which will help you connect the keyboard to your computer. If you don’t find a keyboard that comes with a recharger, you can always find keyboards that require AA batteries.

Flipping your switch

There are keyboards out there that offer different short cuts or mechanisms. They may all look the same, but the bottom line is, no two keyboards (brands) are going to offer the same keys or short cuts. You can get keys that offer the traditional rubber dome switches or scissor switches. They offer different switches which give the profile a slimmer, sleek look. For the Apple fans, they offer an aluminum keyboard.

It’s all in the Layout

A lot of people don’t realize that keyboards do NOT have to come in QWERTY format or with the numeric key set on the side. There are several people who do not like this format, and now you have the option to choose!  The basic keyboard comes with 104 keys, and a 10 key numeric pad off to the right. This format is found on the Ergonomic keyboards and the Cooler master keyboards.

Now last but not least, you can find a keyboard that will help prevent arthritis and help with efficiency and accuracy. If you know how to use the keyboard properly.  The layout is designed for the left handed keys to be separate from the right handed keys. This design is available in a few different brands.

When it comes down to choosing the best keyboard, it is all about knowing what you are comfortable with, and what you are familiar with. (Source: www.mezzoseo.com)

How to Choose the Best MouseOftentimes, when we go shopping for a new computer, we tend to forget about going into detail with the mouse. Let’s be honest, you need to have a main base, or computer before you start looking at accessories. Just as if you were to go buy a tablet, you don’t wonder for tablet cases, screen protectors or chargers first, do you?

The fact of the matter is, it is best to buy the accessories, such as the keyboard and mouse at the same time so that you are thinking about everything you need; everything is fresh in your mind and if you have questions for a sales tech, they will know exactly what it is you’re going to be using the mouse for (kind of PC etc.). Now when it comes down to buying the right kind of mouse for your computer and your needs there are a few things to take into consideration. In most cases you can buy your keyboard and mouse together in a package deal, but when you cannot do this, here are a few tips.

So many options!

The funny thing is people don’t realize that they have so many options when it comes to buying a mouse for their PC. You first have to decide between the wired vs. wireless versions of the mouse that you will be using for your computer. Now with a wireless mouse, you do have to take into consideration that you will have to charge the mouse, or invest in a mouse that takes AA or AAA batteries, which will need replacing every few months. Now this mouse does have a lot of advantages, there are the few that people don’t like. For example going to sit down to send an important, urgent email and the battery being dead. This can be frustrating.

Now there are other forms of the mouse on the market, whether you are comfortable with the traditional mouse or you want one that is in your hand, to help with arthritis and hand placement. These are called ergonomic computer mice. Which often times can be purchased with the ergonomic keyboards as well.

There is one last alternative, and these are trackballs, which are often times on the keyboard, in the middle. And they can be used when the mouse is hooked up as well, offering two options for navigating.

These are some of the untraditional forms of navigation that are available for your PC as well:

  • Touchpad
  • Digital Tablet
  • Eye tracking
